I know we are in the midst of some beautiful fall weather but everyone knows what comes after that. Old man winter will come knocking and if your home is or will be on the market during winter, take some steps now to put your best foot forward.
A picture is worth a thousand words and it's probably never more true than when you are marketing your home. Interior pictures are tremendously important but those can be taken and re-taken anytime of year. Now is the time to get all those great outdoor shots of your home and lawn. In my opinion, your garage doors should be down and there should be no cars, pets, kids, bicycles, etc... in the driveway or yard. Think Better Homes and Gardens!
Also, if your home for sale is vacant, be sure to remember these 2 very important points:
*Set the heat to about 55 degrees to prevent the pipes from freezing. I have heard of and seen damage in excess of $10,000 from a pipe bursting and trust me, it is not pretty. Even if you find the damage right way, you still run the risk of the compounded problem of possible mold issues.
*Make arrangements with a snow plow company. Few things will kill a showing quicker than an unplowed driveway. I have had buyers pull up and simply request that we leave because most people do not want to trudge through 2 feet of snow. Not to mention that it is dangerous. For those brave buyers that will trudge through, I will have to follow and I have slipped on more than one occasion. I hate to think of what I might have broken had I actually fallen.
